Frequently Asked Questions:
Q:What does "Matching # parts mean?"
A: When a parts kit is advertised as matching # parts, that means the bolt, carrier and barrel trunnion all came from the same rifle. The numbers match on these critical parts. Other small parts may have been replaced but the ones that determine headspace are matching.
Q: Is it legal to buy a parts kit?
A: Yes, parts kits do not contain a receiver, they are considered spare parts. Always check with your local laws before ordering as laws vary from state to state. EX: some states do not allow import of high capacity magazines. Customer is responsible to know the laws in his area.
Q: I Live in anytown, USA, is it legal for me to buy a parts kit or high capacity magazine here?
A: Check your local laws before ordering. Customer is responsible for checking local laws before placing an order. Orders for high capacity magazines etc, that are placed, processed then returned to stock because item is not allowed in customer's area will be charged a 15% restocking fee.
Q: I ordered a parts kit that lists one magazine is included but I did not receive a magazine? Will you send me a magazine? (EX: CA resident)
A: Kits that include a magazine are listed "Magazine Only where Allowed" If you live in a state or area that does not allow high capacity magazines we cannot include a magazine with a kit. We cannot ship a magazine seperately to another address, this is called a straw purchase and is illegal. Please check the BATF website for "Straw Purchase" definitions.
These are not our laws, they're yours. Please remember to vote accordingly at your next elections. We DO NOT agree with these obvious anti-gun laws but we must follow them to the letter accordingly. There is no gray area please do not ask. Orders must be processed and shipped 100% legally.
Q: High capacity magazines are not allowed in my area but high capacity magazine repair parts are allowed. Can you disassemble or demil your complete magazines so I can order all the parts individually?
A: NO, we will not demil or disassemble any high capacity magazines to try to get around unpopular state or area magazine laws. There is no gray area please do not ask.
Q: Do I need an FFL to order?
A: No, FFL's are required for firearm purchases. AKParts.com sells no firearms. A Parts kit does not include the 100% complete receiver, the 100% complete receiver is considered a complete gun and therefore an FFL item.
Q: Is it really legal for me to assemble my own AK-47?
A: Yes, as long as you can legally own a firearm, the BATF has ruled you can legally make your own firearm. See the FAQ section at www.atf.gov for more details. As always, check local laws first.
Q: How many US Made parts do I need for my AK to be legal?
A: At this time, you'll need to add a minimum of 6 US made parts to qualify your rifle as "US Made" It is illegal to assemble any rifle without the correct number of US made parts. See parts list in the "Links and Info" section. Most AK builders add the following US made items: Gas Piston (counts as 1 part),Pistol Grip (Counts as 1 Part),Muzzle Brake (counts as 1 part), Trigger group.(counts as 3 parts) You can also increase your US parts count by adding a US made magazine. But keep in mind a good rule of thumb is to add enough parts to your rifle to make it legal without the magazine installed.
Q: I sent AKParts.com an email and they have not replied, What do I do?
A: All emails are answered 100%. Period. Due to the volume of emails it may take a day or 2 to get a reply, but you will receive an answer. Possible Reasons for no reply: 1. You asked a question about a product that is covered in the item description. 2. Your computer has a virus or you sent an attachment. Make sure your computer does not have an email virus, there are many free antivirus programs and virus scans available online. Make sure you do not send an attachment. AKParts.com will NOT open any email attachments and the server will not let any emails containing a virus code thru. 3. Please keep in mind that AKParts.com is closed Saturday , Sunday, and Holidays. Our guys must have a day off too. If you send an email Friday night, the earliest possible reply received will normally be Monday. 4. Check your spam filter settings. This is a common problem.
Q:How long will it take to receive my package?
A: AKParts.com uses UPS ground. Depending on your location in the US it could take from 1 to 9 business days for a package to reach you. If you need faster shipping, please request the shipping upgrade in the comments section of the order. Please keep in mind the shopping cart is set for UPS ground rates only. All other shipping methods will be an added extra cost. We can offer all UPS services. Overnight Air, 2nd day Air, etc..
Q: When does my order ship?
A: We try very hard to process and ship all orders same day received, but due to volume this is not always possible. Normally new orders are processed and shipped out in 1 to 4 business days. We try to keep backorders to a minimum with a large supply on hand but when serving dealers as well as the general public, sometimes backorders happen. If your order has a backordered item it will ship ASAP.
Q:How come there's not an 1-800 orderline?
A: We are negotiating for an 800 number at this time. The vanity number we want is owned by another company. Only mail in and online orders can be accepted at this time.
Q: I'm not an FFL Mfg but can you tell me how to make my AK-47 fire full Auto?
A: NO. We do not instruct others on how to mfg illegal machineguns!! Please do not ask. We have better things to do than to spend 15 years in prison over an illegal machinegun.
Q: Item # **** is sold out on the website. Do you have any more?
A: If an item is listed as Temporarily out of stock or Sold out, we do not have any more. If more come in, they will be added to the site ASAP.
